Last Thursday, the day Toad visited, turned out to be a great day for working in the yard.
One of the few good days we've had. This year it's either been too hot or too wet. But last Thursday it was cool and dry. I got a lot done.
I started with fixing the garden fence.
Back in the planning stage, I decided to go with a cheaper fence, cuz I didn't expect anything to last the whole summer. I really want a cinder block wall, but I just didn't have the money for that. So I ended up with 1x2s and plastic netting.
We were doing pretty good until Saturday June 18, when Dusty:
Wanted the cat:
bad enough that she figured out she could go through the fence without much trouble.
Ever since then she's been over, under, and through the fence almost daily. Thursday I tightened the whole thing up and replaced the section she'd destroyed. It's slowed her down a bit, but last night I found a banana pepper in the middle of the yard. So she's got another hole somewhere. I'm still glad I went cheap. Wire wouldn't hold up much better and it cost a heck of a lot more. This way I have enough of the netting to keep repairing and replacing while I fight the battle of garden boundaries. I'll win, eventually...
